Accountability needed
Vote yes for Proposition 15, the California Fair Election Act. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to get elected officials out of the never-ending fundraising cycle, make our elected officials more accountable to the people of California and reduce the influence of big money. This proposition does two very good things: Establishes voluntary public funding for candidates for secretary of state supported entirely through raising registration fees on lobbyists, and allows local and state governments to develop similar programs for other elected positions. Seven states have already adopted fair-elections laws. The results have been the election of new people with new ideas from all walks of life; not the same old career politicians. Because they never take campaign contributions, they can speak their mind, work for the people and take on vested interests. Proposition 15 is in your interest. Elections should be won, not bought. Yes on Proposition 15. - Kate Faulkner, Ventura See the article on Ventura County Star website ![]() (In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C.
