Prop. 89 Makes Campaigns Fairer

By Brian Davis, Letter to the Editor

Thank you for your excellent article ``Campaign funding gets look'' (Page 1B, Aug. 15). Getting elected or re-elected almost always requires raising large amounts of money. Doing and saying what big contributors want is the easiest way to raise it. Public campaign financing largely eliminates this by providing adequate ``clean'' public campaign funding to qualified candidates who take no private campaign contributions. This frees them to support what they and their constituents want. Yes on Proposition 89 and public campaign financing for San Jose!
