Clean Money Yes, Partisanship No

By Thomas Firpo, Letter to the Editor

Edwin Garcia makes a point of the "deeply divided partisan'' vote on the Clean Money and Fair Elections Act in the Assembly (Page 5B, Jan. 31). It's worth noting that in Arizona and Maine, similar clean-money systems, are utilized extensively by both Republicans and Democrats; and in Connecticut, a Republican governor and a Democratic legislature worked together to enact their clean-money system. A clean-money elections system is a giant leap forward toward a truly responsive, effective government that isn't paralyzed by party politics.
