![]() Campaign finance: Getting the legislature out of bed with lobbyists
Californians have long suspected that the Legislature is in bed with lobbyists; now we know it is sometimes literally true. Most voters believe that the state is run for the benefit of a few big interests ("How far will voters go to fix California?" Open Forum, Sept. 16). We can alter that relationship in a very real and substantial way by voting for public financing of election campaigns - the California Fair Elections Act on our June 2010 ballot. Public funding would make officials accountable to voters, not big money.
