Yes on 89
By Rose Ann DeMoro, Letter to the Editor
Editor -- In opposing Prop. 89, the Chronicle has chosen
quite an array of bedfellows: Chevron; the drug industry's
lobbying arm; PG&E; Blue Cross; State Farm, Mercury,
and Zenith insurance companies; the Chamber of Commerce;
the Bankers Association; Occidental Oil and Gas; Waste
Management; and a host of other corporate interests who
want to keep their stranglehold in Sacramento.
By contrast, here's who's endorsing Prop. 89: AARP
California, League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club,
California Church IMPACT (the legislative advocacy arm of
the California Council of Churches), California National
Organization for Women, Common Cause, Senior Action
Network, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., House Minority
Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-S.F., S.F. Mayor Gavin Newsom and
Supervisor Tom Ammiano, to name just a few of the hundreds
of good government, consumer and community supporters.
Chronicle readers may well wish to ask themselves which
side they want to be on.
