Level the Playing Field

By W. "Terry" Van Hook, Letter to the Editor

You said that Prop. 89 is filled with "nice thoughts." With that backhanded complement you slander its fair and common sense ideas.

You dismiss efforts to "level the playing field" that allowed "candidates without access to big money to compete" and that center "campaigns on ideas rather than money."

From your "Orwellian newspeak" one can only conclude that:

•You endorse an unfair, uneven political playing field.
•You endorse only candidates who have access to big money.
•You endorse centering campaigns on money rather than ideas.

Where has your critical thinking gone?

Turn from your own big money/power-broker mentality and seriously consider the common sense of public funding.
