| | 'Clean Money' Proposal

Re "Huffington Urges 'Clean Money' Law," Sept. 26: Any
candidate, any proposal, any nod in favor of jettisoning
the venal character from our electoral system should be
embraced. The majority of Americans feel disenfranchised
from the democratic process and recognize the need for
campaign finance reform. This recall campaign, dominated by
news of special-interest contributions, is a perfect
example. "Clean money" public financing of the sort
proposed by Arianna Huffington would solve the problem and
level the playing field. Elections should be a contest of
ideas, not bankrolls. See the article on Los Angeles Times website (In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107, this material is distributed without profit to those who have expressed a prior interest in receiving the included information for research and educational purposes.) |
