The People Lose

*Letter to the editor

Re "Stein may be stepping down" (April 2):

URS Corp says it lost the LAX bid by not donating to an elected official's campaign. Beyond the fact that secession couldn't get a fair hearing in the public arena because it was outspent ten to one, is the reality that we the people are losers every day that politicians scramble for money to get elected?

When will we learn that we cannot afford not to have public financing of elections? If we don't finance our elections then the folks that have the most to gain financially will. We should support Assembly Bill 2949, the Clean Money, Clean Elections bill.
