Could it be that instead of continuing to moan and groan about how the government is in the hands of crooks and their obedient servants in the Legislature, Californians are finally ready to take matters into their own hands and do something about it? Public financing of election campaigns is a necessary step in getting the government to put the public interest first. Those rich lobbies that wield all the power now are not going to give it up without a fight.
