"Yes" on Prop. 89

By Lynn Davidson, Letter to the Editor

I find it galling that so many corporations, as well as some unions, spend these obscene amounts to bribe politicians (legally, of course, under the current pay-to-play system), while our basic needs, such as health care and good schools, are considered unaffordable.

Big money calls the shots in Sacramento and the general public, which doesn't have a lot of money, does not come close to having its needs addressed.

Proposition 89 will give ordinary people -- not just corporations, but real people -- a voice that is being totally drowned out by private campaign "contributions." Everyone who is paying attention knows this is the way the system works now.

This year we have a chance to do something about it by voting "yes" on Prop. 89.
